Jim Ellis Volkswagen of Chamblee has been challenged to compare the Volkswagen Atlas to its toughest competitors: the Honda Pilot and the Ford Explorer. We are excited to participate in the Dare To Compare Challenge and we are thrilled to stand behind our outstanding Volkswagen Atlas SUV. Read below to see the differences between each model and discover why the Volkswagen Atlas is the perfect SUV for you.

Both the Honda Pilot and the Ford Explorer contain higher starting MSRPs than the Volkswagen Atlas, from the base all the way up to the top trim. This means that you will be paying more money up front for a comparably packed mid-sized SUV if you choose the non-Volkswagen option.

You will also save money by utilizing the impressive basic and drivetrain warranties in the Volkswagen Atlas. The Volkswagen Atlas holds a six year/72,000 mile basic warranty and a six year/72,000 mile drivetrain warranty. Both the Explorer and the Pilot only have a three year/36,000 mile basic warranty and a five year/60,000 mile drivetrain warranty. You get more for your money with the Volkswagen Atlas model.

Interior Comfort And Space

All three of these mid-sized SUVs have plenty of space for your passengers and cargo. The Explorer and Atlas contain up to seven seats while the Pilot has a maximum of eight passenger seats available and each rear seat in all three models can be folded down to make more room for your equipment, packages, or supplies. The Volkswagen Atlas SUV includes more over-all passenger volume than the Explorer and Pilot, which means you and your passengers will have more leg, shoulder, head, and elbow room to stretch out in, and more cargo volume, once the third or second row is folded down.

You'll also find more comfort in the Volkswagen 2019 Atlas than in the Explorer or the Pilot.

Besides not being so squished, the seats are supportive and comfortable and come in both the standard cloth upholstery or the available leather-trimmed. All three models have heated and ventilated front seats available as well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power liftgate, and many other supreme amenities.

Technology For Safety And Infotainment

Each model has plenty of tech, whether it be for safety or infotainment purposes. What you'll have to decide is which program you like the best. The Ford Explorer comes with its SYNC 3 system that allows you to stay connected via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and can include a variety of safety systems, like the Lane-Keeping System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Enhanced Park Assist. The Volkswagen Atlas contains a similar entertainment system, with an eight-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth voice recognition, and MirrorLink, as well as a plethora of similar safety systems. You will find the same systems in the Honda Pilot as well, but the Pilot doesn't allow you to connect hands-free to the audio or climate.
