Does the Atlas have third-row seating? Yes!
The new VW Atlas is a 200.7-inch midsize SUV that can seat up to seven occupants across its three rows. That being said, you can also choose a VW Atlas built with second-row captain's chairs and seating for six, providing more individual comfort and easy access to the third row.
As a midsize model, the Atlas is more maneuverable than larger three-row SUVs. That doesn't mean you and your passengers won't be comfy in the cabin, though. The driver and copilot will have up to 41.3 inches of headroom and 41.7 inches of legroom. The second row gives your taller passengers a maximum of 40.4 inches of headroom and 37.6 inches of legroom, while shorter riders will find the 38.3 and 33.7 inches, respectively, in the third row to be plenty cozy.
What if you need to run errands or bring luggage along on a road trip? The trunk starts with 20.6 cubic feet to work with. Folding the third row gives you access to 55.5 cubic feet, while lowering both back rows opens the cabin up to 96.6 cubic feet, meaning you can haul furniture and larger belongings.
This Volkswagen three-row SUV is also one of the most well-equipped models in the automaker's stable. For example, it comes standard with heated and ventilated front seats, perforated V-Tex leatherette upholstery, three-zone automatic climate control, and Seat Belt Warnings for rear passengers. Does the Tiguan have a third row? The current-generation Tiguan, which started for the 2025 model year, no longer offers a third row. Instead, it maximizes comfort for five occupants across two rows, providing 40.2 inches of legroom no matter where you're sitting. However, as you'll see below, some pre-owned Tiguan editions have three rows.
While the Atlas is an exceptional vehicle, we know that some drivers want a Volkswagen three-row SUV or van with other characteristics. This is where pre-owned examples come into play – more specifically, used Tiguan and ID. Buzz models. Plus, you can still find intuitive, contemporary features with late-model iterations.
While there isn't a current-generation VW Tiguan third-row configuration, a pre-owned VW Tiguan from 2018 to 2024 can have more than five seats. The previous iterations of this compact SUV offered a unique seven-seat layout in the 185.1-inch-long model.
Third-row legroom for these pre-owned editions measures 27.9 inches – ideal for children and young teens. You can also fold down the second and third rows to gain a maximum cargo space of 65.3 cubic feet in some examples, like a 2022 Tiguan.
Tiguan three-row seating makes the agile SUV a competitive family model. However, it's important to check any of our 2018 to 2024 used Tiguan options carefully, as not all versions from those model years have a third row.
