2018 Golf Models Appear at NY International Auto Show

Volkswagen introduced the updated lineup of 2018 Golf vehicles at this year’s New York International Auto Show, displaying a collection of sharper-looking vehicles that offer drivers more value than ever. All 2018 Golf iterations now feature standard LED taillights and LED daytime running lights, with available full-LED headlights offered in lieu of the optional Bi-Xenon headlights from previous generations.

Volkswagen has upgraded the touchscreens in all models, with a 6.5-inch display now standard issue (improving on the 5-inch previously included) — with the SE and SEL trims featuring a standard 8-inch touchscreen. Other standard features include Volkswagen Car-Net® App-Connect, cruise control, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel and power-reclining front seats.

The 2018 Golf comes with a 1.8-liter TSI® engine that pairs to either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission on the S and SE models (the automatic transmission is standard on SEL models).

2018 Golf Alltrack features the same 1.8-liter engine and offers standard 4Motion® all-wheel drive and Hill Descent Control. The Alltrack also offers greater ground clearance that the Golf SportWagen.The 2018 Golf GTI boasts a 2.0-liter TSI 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque and can be matched to either the 6-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual on all three trim levels (S, SE and Autobahn).

2018 Golf SportWagen is available in either front-wheel drive or 4Motion® all-wheel drive. Both configurations offer the 6-speed automatic transmission, while front wheel drive has optional 5-speed manual or all-wheel drive offers optional 6-speed manual.

Lastly, the 2018 Golf R is powered by an EA888 4-cylinder turbocharged, direct-injected TSI 2.0-liter engine that generates 292 horsepower and 280-pound-feet of torque. The most powerful Golf sold in North America, the Golf R is available with a 6-speed manual transmission or a new and exclusive 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
